Eat, Drink, Visit and Stuff
Recently we launched our monthly newsletter (if you haven't signed up - you should!) and have shared some wonderful things we are loving here at Cwene. From things to see, visit, eat, drink, read & buy, we've really enjoyed putting them together and wanted to give them an official place on our journal too.
So here you can find, a few of our favourite things!
EAT
We loved this ridiculously easy and super tasty salad recipe from georgie eats, but adapted it with more greens - broccoli, beans, kale etc and replaced chick peas with butterbeans when I ran out!
And, who knew (not me for one) that purple sprouting brocoli, is only available during such a small window - late Feb to early April?? So, recently we've been eating this, a LOT….
READ
A Room Of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf, again…It's an essay apparently, not a novel and ignites a fire in me, every single time I read it….
CAFTAN 'N' COCKTAILS
We decided that nothing beats a caftan 'n' cocktail pairing so teamed our stunning Selene in black & white printed silk with a ‘Sour Mother Pucker’ mocktail using the amazing Mother Root ginger switchel (non-alcoholic but if I served you one I bet you’d never guess...).For the recipe - click here
VISIT
Last month I finally visited Knole House, set in the most beautiful deer park that I walk through A LOT, but had never stepped inside it shames me to admit. It’s very dark but I found this marble statue of celebrated Italian ballerina ‘La Baccelli’ bathing in the brightest corner…..think she would have appreciated a Caftan.
Flourish wellness, one of my (very) ‘happy places….’ During Spring & Summer we practice yoga on the roof, and the views of the Kentish countryside are spectacular.
We also thought that Nailberry deserved a place in this round up - hands down the best nail polish I’ve ever used (I’m not much of a gel fan). It stays on forever AND it’s vegan. Favourite colours are Au Naturel and Honesty, for now….
And last, but no means least is the incredible Little Simz who I've just started listening to. (My daughter Mercy inspired me to listen when she told me her music is made with women, specifically black women, at its core. That its uplifting & filled with joy despite the difficulties she speaks of facing. Plus, always fun seeing a woman shine in the male dominated arena of hip hop / rap…) My fave track is Far away.
We can't wait to share more with you!
