My top 3 - August
Where is this year going? As we near the end of Summer (and we start ours soon with a lovely well-needed family holiday) I wanted to recap what I achieved, obsessed over and rediscovered this month.
1. Achieved:
Kicked August off with a a 10k race (my first ever) in Regents Park and ran it ten minutes faster than I expected as well as raising a bit of cash for Shelter. Finished it by saying I will never, ever, run 10k again (the whole point of training to 10k was to develop a weekly 5k habit. When I started, 5k felt like a marathon and I just couldn’t imagine it becoming part of my fitness routine. Now I regularly run 5k and enjoy it so, job done) but instead, I’ve given myself another running goal - to knock another 10 minutes off my 10k time by February ‘25. Who even am I?
2. Obsessed:
The Yuka Food & Cosmetic Scanner App has revolutionised how I shop, mainly for beauty products. Honestly, never going back. Do check it out. Its free, unless you become a complete obsessive…

3. Rediscovered:
Anyone else remember 4711, the original Eau de Cologne? I can’t say ‘4711’ without adding ‘fresh as the feel of champagne on your skin’ (click here for the ad) and being instantly transported back to my childhood. My sister and I used to drench ourselves in it as kids when nobody was looking after being told it was ‘miracle water’ and cooled you down in the stifling heat of Summer! (Don’t actually think it did to be honest…) Still smells amazing though.
